The complex stacks identical prefabricated concrete modules, cast on site and lifted into place by crane, into a stepped, pyramidal cluster rising to twelve storeys and originally forming 158 residences. The section reveals Kahn's diagram in full — reading carrels at the perimeter where the daylight is, books at the centre, and the great geometric voids that bind them.
